The Global SDG Leadership Network – An Initiative of the International Peace Commission (IPC) convened a virtual panel discussion on August 14, 2026, titled “Responsible Technology: Building Inclusive and Ethical Digital Futures,” bringing together professionals and participants from the United States and India for a practical conversation on responsible technology development.
The 60-minute session was organized and moderated by SDG Commissioner Srividya Narayanan as part of her leadership activity within the Global SDG Leadership Network. The discussion featured a four-member panel comprising Lavanya Ramnath of Insulet Corporation, Prashil Panchal of Freyr Solutions, Srushti Madhure of Phicilitate Change, and Jyothsna, formerly of Zimmer Biomet.
The panel moved beyond broad principles of technology ethics to examine how inclusion, accountability and responsible decision-making can be incorporated into the everyday processes used to design, build, launch and monitor digital products.
Among the areas discussed were the practical meaning of responsible technology, inclusive design, reducing bias in data and algorithms, human oversight in automated decision-making, and establishing clear ownership and accountability throughout technology development.
The activity directly supported several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities; and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
Panelists shared practical approaches for integrating ethical and inclusion considerations throughout the product development lifecycle—from defining the problem and making design decisions to deployment and post-launch monitoring.
The discussion also emphasized that responsible technology cannot be treated solely as a policy statement or a final compliance check. Building more inclusive digital futures requires consideration of ethics, accessibility, potential bias and human impact throughout the development process.
The session attracted 29 registrations, with 10 participants attending the live discussion, representing the United States and India.
The activity concluded with an invitation for additional professionals and subject-matter experts to participate in future panel discussions, creating opportunities for continued knowledge exchange and collaboration around technology and sustainable development.
Through activities such as this, the Global SDG Leadership Network seeks to provide a platform for individual leaders and professionals to translate the Sustainable Development Goals into practical conversations, initiatives and actions within their respective fields and communities.
