IBUSA, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA — 2 November 2026: The International Peace Commission (IPC), through the Global SDG Leadership Network–Nigeria, conducted an educational outreach at Anioshe Primary School in Umueze, Ibusa, under the theme “An Act of Hope That Makes School Children Feel Seen.”
The initiative provided notebooks and other educational materials to pupils while emphasizing the importance of encouragement, inclusion and community support in a child’s educational development.
The outreach was led and coordinated by Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude, SDG Ambassador and Senior Country Representative–Nigeria, with the participation of six other registered IPC and GSLN members.
The participating delegation comprised Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude, Chief Teddy Ashimedua, Bosen Asifihor, Jerry Ofuogu, Jerry Ojei, Chuck Andrew Okafor and Chima Ude.
Members engaged directly with pupils, teachers and the school’s management. The children received the materials with visible excitement, reflecting the value of practical community initiatives that recognize and encourage young learners.
Beyond distributing educational materials, the outreach sought to remind pupils that their aspirations matter and that institutions and community leaders have a shared responsibility to support their development.
School identifies infrastructure needs
The delegation was welcomed by the school’s Head Teacher and teaching staff, who expressed appreciation to IPC and the Global SDG Leadership Network for supporting the pupils.
During discussions, school officials identified several challenges affecting the learning environment. These included the absence of a reliable borehole for clean and accessible water and the deteriorating condition of parts of the school’s infrastructure.
The findings may help inform future engagement with the school and potential development partners. Any further intervention would remain subject to assessment, organizational approval and the availability of resources.
Possible areas of future support include improved access to clean water, renovation of school facilities and continued provision of books and learning materials.
Turning shared values into community action
The outreach demonstrated how a focused local initiative can create meaningful impact without requiring a large-scale intervention. A notebook, a supportive conversation or a genuine act of encouragement can help a child feel recognized and motivated to continue learning.
IPC commended Amb. Jude and the participating members for contributing their time, leadership and collective effort to the activity.
The initiative supports the broader objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, while promoting inclusion, community responsibility and partnerships for sustainable development.
Photographs and video recordings documented the distribution, participation and engagement with the school community.
Although the outreach has concluded, the responsibility to strengthen education, empower communities and create sustainable opportunities for children continues.
